In The O Games of the Weekend

Here are the In the O games of the weekend! You will see some of the In the O crew around the rink at some of these games, so don't be shy, say HI!

Thursday, March 3:
London Knights (32-24-4-1) vs Windsor Spitfires (33-21-3-3) - These Western Conference rivals have both clinched a playoff position, but continue to battle for a placing as they are just three points apart from one another. These two clubs have been OHL powerhouses over the past years, and although they may not have as strong a team as they previously have, when the two teams meet, you can always count on an exciting physical battle.

Oshawa Generals (34-16-4-5) vs Kingston Frontenacs (27-26-4-2) - Although these divisional rivals are second and third respectively in the East, the Generals have a 17 point lead on the Fronts. Nonetheless, this match-up is important for both teams as they could face each other early in the playoffs. Count on a rough game between the two as Oshawa leads the league with 1241 penalty minutes, and Kingston has several players who like to mix things up game after game.

Friday, March 4:
Brampton Battalion (25-28-0-6) vs Sudbury Wolves (26-31-2-1) - Another divisional match-up. Currently sitting in the sixth and seventh spots in the Eastern Conference, the two teams are merely one point apart as Brampton has 56, and Sudbury 55. The Wolves have turned it around in the latter half of the season and could be an underdog threat in the playoffs. With the two teams that close together in the standings, this battle will be ever so important as they both have a challenging weekend elsewhere.

Saginaw Spirit (37-20-3-1) vs Plymouth Whalers (34-21-1-4) - Divisional battle between two American rivals. Important game for both teams as Saginaw looks to hold onto the first place spot in the West, while Plymouth is nipping at their heels just five points behind them in the division. A must-win for both clubs, and should be an intense battle.

Saturday, March 5:
Niagara IceDogs (38-16-2-4) vs Sarnia Sting (22-31-4-2) - Although this isn't and inner-conference battle and Sarnia is 32 points behind Niagara, the two clubs always play a fast-paced game when they meet. In the O host Brandon Sudeyko will also be making the trek down to Niagara to take in the game alongside myself, so it has to get a game of the weekend title. A lot of elite prospect will be in the building as well in Ryan Strome, Dougie Hamilton, Brett Richie and the up-and-coming rookie sensation, Nail Yakupov. Should be a dandy.

Owen Sound Attack (40-17-1-3) vs Peterborough Petes (19-39-1-1) - Important game for Owen Sound as they try to hold on to their points lead over the Niagara IceDogs. Peterborough has been known to upset some top teams, but it will be a tough challenge for the young, rebuilding squad.

Sunday, March 6:
Ottawa 67's (39-19-1-2) vs Kitchener Rangers (37-16-3-4) - Tied neck-and-neck with 81 points each, this Sunday afternoon battle will be a huge test for both clubs. Both teams are pretty even on paper. Ottawa is on a two-game winning streak while Kitchener won their last game. Jason Akeson of the Rangers currently holds the league lead in points with 103, while Tyler Toffoli is right on his trail in second with 50 goals and 95 points. This game will show you two of the most offensively talented players in the league, and should making for a fast-paced, exciting battle.
