GAME PREVIEW: Kitchener Rangers @ Ottawa 67’s

Radio:  Team 1200 Ottawa
TV:  Rogers 22 Ottawa

The Kitchener Rangers make their much anticipated first and only visit to the RONA Centre this afternoon to take on the Ottawa 67’s.  The two teams faced off back on Nov 21st in Kitchener where the 67’s skated to a 5-4 shootout win.  Petr Mrazek turned aside 43 of 47 Rangers shots fired his way while Toffoli scored a pair of goals and the eventual shootout game winner.  Both Gabriel Landeskog and Michael Catenacci had stand out games combining for 6 points on the night.

The 67’s are coming off a 7-4 home win over the Barrie Colts.  Shayne Campbell was solid in nets, but it was Sean Monahan who stole the show with his 3 point performance and his 5th & 6th goal in two games.  The Rangers continued their Eastern conference swing as they visited the Yardmen Arena in Belleville last night.  The Bulls caught the Rangers off guard as they could not solve Tyson Teichmann who turned away all 34 shots.

The 67’s and Rangers have two of the top scorers in the OHL.  Orleans native, Jason Akeson has marched out to a massive lead with 104 points in 61 games.  Tyler Toffoli is right behind him in second place with 96 points in 62 games.  The two teams also have two of the best goaltenders in the league.  Mike Morrison of the Rangers has a GAA of 2.54, good for 3rd and a save percentage of 0.914, also good for 3rd.  Petr Mrazek has a GAA of 2.83, good for 4th and a save percentage of 0.921, good for 1st overall.

UPDATE: Shayne Campbell gets the nod in nets for the 67’s.  Petr Mrazek will back up.
